Step into my office… well, my corner :)

Yup, that's me in my lovely corner

Hi! My name is Katie Finley, and I’m an intern at Worship Leader Magazine. I’m also a daughter, a sister, a follower, a friend, an artist, and a senior at Chapman University. If all goes according to plan (and someone miraculously discovers the cure to senioritis in the next 3 months), I will graduate this spring with a BA in public relations and advertising. In my major we do really exciting things like market student films, create PR campaigns for non-profits, design portfolios, and Tweet for homework—true story.

All of these things prove very useful in my internship at WL, but here in the “real world” I do more than Tweeting—I get to blog, write, and brainstorm, among many other exciting things that involve planning and promoting a National Worship Leader Conference. Oh and don’t forget the occasional Starbucks run—a double shot, extra foamy, one pump vanilla latte anyone? Try ordering seven at once.

All this to say school has taught me a lot, but after helping with the 2009 NWLC, I’ve realized the learning has just begun. At Worship Leader, so many dimensions create room for opportunity. The editorial, musical, event planning, promotional, and technological aspects are all but a few sides to dive in and explore.

Learning, discovering, and experiencing—that is what leads us here. During this process of recording my experiences, I hope to provide a glimpse into the ins-and-outs of planning the 2010 NWLCs. And I can guarantee that this learning process will be way more exciting than any collegiate class. And if it’s not, well, I may just have to shake some things up around the office to get a story. Just kidding—that would be totally unprofessional, completely counter-productive, and, and actually might work if I get desperate enough…

Oh and one of the most exciting things about this blog is handing out free giveaways! Something big is coming soon!
